Vasari Corridor by night
From July 4 until December 26, is possible to visit
the Vasari Corridor at night every Friday (excluding August 15).
Guided tours do not require an entrance ticket to the
Uffizi Gallery, but have a separate ticket. They run from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
every 20 minutes and last 45 minutes. Reservations are required.
The tour concludes in piazza Pitti, exiting through the Boboli Gardens via the
Rondò di Bacco gate.
This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the famous
Vasari Corridor and see the path that the Medici family used to reach Palazzo Vecchio,
the seat of government, from their residence in Palazzo Pitti undisturbed. The
construction of this corridor had in fact been commissioned by Cosimo I to
Giorgio Vasari in 1565, to ensure the safe passage of his family members.
From the Vasari Corridor, the Medici could even attend
mass without having to mingle with the crowd, thanks to a convenient window
that looked directly onto the interior of the church of Santa Felicita.
For more information about these tours you can visit the
Uffizi Gallery website.
