Tony Craigg at Boboli Gardens

They stand out among the tidy hedges of the Boboli Gardens like clumps of coagulated magma, like rocks eroded and smoothed by water, like desert rose crystals, like stalagmites, like strange primitive flowers and shapes free in space. Many are the images evoked by the sculptures of British artist Tony Craigg, here on display until October 13th.
Steel, bronze, wood, marble and fiberglass are the materials used by the artist in his studio in Wuppertal, Germany, where in 2008 he created the Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, an exhibition center dedicated to contemporary sculpture. It falls Therefore it falls within his search for a dialogue between sculpture and nature, this exhibition at the Giradini di Boboli, where it will be possible for visitors to see and interact closely with his large works. Craigg is one of the most famous and acclaimed exponents of contemporary sculpture and his inspiration is rooted in Minimalism and Futurism, in a continuous manipulation and study of different materials to reach the maximum dynamism of the matter.

Access to the Tony Cragg at Boboli Gardens exhibition, curated by Uffizi Galleries Director Eike Schmidt and Jon Wood, is included in the entrance ticket to the gardens.
