ACROSS ART AND FASHION, Exhibition at the Ferragamo Museum

The Across Art and Fashion exhibition is divided into 5 different venues: the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, the National Central Library of Florence, the Uffizi Gallery, the Marino Marini Museum and the Textile Museum of Prato.

At the center of the entire project is the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum. Here the display - that encompasses clothing, accessories, fabrics, works of art, books, photographs and a contemporary art installation created for the occasion - analyzes art and fashion and their reciprocal influences.
The exhibition itinerary starts by focusing on the work of the famous stylist, who created shoes considered genuine works of art inspired by the avant-garde art movements of the 20th century, and then continues showing the collaboration between artists and designers like Thayaht and Vionnet or Schiaparelli with Dalì and Cocteau.
Among the works on display a pump of Salvatore Ferragamo inspired by the works of American artist Kenneth Noland, the dress made in the thirties by Elsa Schiaparelli in collaboration with Salvador Dalí, the Yves Saint Laurent dress inspired by the paintings of Piet Mondrian and a section dedicated to Andy Warhol, who combines fashion, art and industrial logic in his famous "The Souper Dress".
Is fashion art? This is the question the exhibition poses and that most certainly succeeds to answer with style.
