Ytalia, contemporary art in Florence

Until October the 1st, Florence transforms from cradle of reinassence to cradel of Contemporary Art hosting the exhibition “Ytalia. Energy, thoughts, beauty. It's all connected”.
The exhibition takes its name from the word "Ytalia" written at the end of 1200 by Cimabue on the margin of a painting representing almost certainly the city of Rome: a very early affirmation of the existence of Italian civilization. The huge collective, that features about 100 artworks scattered in various locations of the city - most of which in the main venue of Forte Belvedere - aims to create a dialogue between past and present.
The other locations of the exhibition, curated by Sergio Risaliti and organized by MUS.E, are Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Boboli Gardens, Palatine Galley, Modern Art Gallery of Palazzo Pitti, Monumental Complex of Santa Croce, Marino Marini Museum, Museo Novecento.
Ytalia in fact, takes the form of a contemporary open-air museum, with artworks from the 70's to the new site-specific works, all merging with the Medieval and Reinassence Florence.
Twelve are the international artists who gave their contribution with works whose topics range from natural elements to metaphysical realities and new mythologies: Mario Merz, Giovanni Anselmo, Jannis Kounellis, Luciano Fabro, Alighiero Boetti, Giulio Paolini, Gino De Dominicis, Remo Salvadori, Mimmo Paladino, Marco Bagnoli, Nunzio, Domenico Bianchi.
At the Forte Belvedere the "Calamita Cosmica" (Cosmic Magnet) by Gino De Dominicis has already become one of the main attractions for visitors. A 24 meters gaint skeleton that lies on the ground with it's beak-like nose pointing to the sky, balancing on the tip of his middle finger a long golden pole: the "magnet" that keeps the skeleton connected to the cosmic world. The sculpture by De Dominicis on the ramparts of the Medici Fortress, the Maps of Alighiero Boetti in the Hall of the Nichies in Palazzo Pitti, the sculptures by Luciano Fabro and Giovanni Anselmo installed in the Pazzi Chapel in Santa Croce, and the sculpture by Mimmo Paladino placed in the Fountain of Neptune in the Boboli Gardens are just a few examples of what awaits the visitors. It's hard to give an idea of the ambition and vstity of this project. We can only suggest you to take the time to visit all the venues of the exhibition, an unprecedented event, absolutely not to be missed!
