BIAF! - Florence International Antiques Biennial
The BIAF! – Biennale Internazionale dell’antiquariato
di Firenze (Florence International Antiques Biennial) is back, the world's most
important fair for Italian antique art, now in its 33rd edition, which will
take place from September 28 to October 6.
Once again the
exhibition is hosted in the spectacular spaces of Palazzo Corsini, one of the
most sumptuous private palaces in the city and among the most prestigious
examples of Baroque style in Renaissance Florence.
The antiques
biennial saw its first edition in 1953 and since then, in addition to the best
of Italian antiques - or made by foreign artists who worked in Italy - it has
increasingly given space to modern and contemporary art.
Sarti,
Tornabuoni, Sperone Westwater, Piva, Dickinson, these are just some of the 80
important galleries, some with more than 40 years of activity behind them,
which every year select never before seen and precious art pieces to exhibit at
the biennial, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, furniture, art objects
and ancient books.
Although the
exhibition is primarily an opportunity for galleries, collectors and art lovers
to purchase rare and refined pieces, it is also open to the public who will be
able to admire masterpieces of art and craftsmanship in an exceptional location
such as Palazzo Corsini.
The entrance fee
is €15 and admission is from 10:30 to 20:00 until October 6.
