Francis Bacon and the existential condition in contemporary art

Francis Bacon and the existential condition in contemporary art is the exhibition standing out from the 5 October 2012 until the 27 January 2013 at the Centro di Cultura Contemporanea Strozzina of Florence. The intent of the exhibition by Franziska Nori (director CCC Strozzina, Palazzo Strozzi, Florence) and Barbara Dawson (Director Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, Dublin) is to create a dialogue between the work of contemporary artists who analyze the topic of the existence in the relation between individual and collectivity, with a nucleus of works by the great master Francis Bacon. The five artist who have been invited (Nathalie Djurberg, Adrian Ghenie, Arcangelo Sassolino, Chiharu Shiota, Annegret Soltau) put in the centre of their work and share with the English master a reflection on the contemporary human condition. The study is conducted through the representation of the body with that tension that marks the contemporary time.
